From January 1, 2018, VAT registration in the UAE becomes mandatory if annual turnover for companies and individuals doing business exceeds AED 375,000. Companies can set up an account and register for VAT on the FTA's online portal. Before proceeding with VAT registration, the applicant must consider the various aspects of registration. The applicant may register as a tax group, or as a standalone, as a voluntary or compulsory option.
Business Information and Documents required for VAT Registration in the UAE:
Authorized signatures identifying documents (eg passport copy and Emirates ID)
Copy of company trade license
Other official application documents (eg, combination certificate, association articles, power of attorney, etc.) that authorize the entity / person to work in the UAE
Turnover for the past 12 months at AED
Support Document for 12 months of sales
Expected turnover over the next 30 days
The estimated value of imports for one year from each of the GCC countries
The value of exports to each of the GCC countries for one year
Support documents for customs registration in each emirate if you expect to engage with GCC suppliers or customers.
